Painting The Divine Within

Creative Magic Materials LisT

~ Acrylic Paint: I will be demonstrating with Liquitex Basics Acrylic, however ANY brand of acrylic paint is perfectly fine. I love Liquitex Basics because it is inexpensive, safe to get on your hands, and I can give myself permission to use a LOT of paint if I wish to :)

Colour suggestions: Titanium White, Unbleached Titanium, Silver, Gold, Alizarin Crimson Hue, Primary Red, Primary Yellow, Bright Aqua Green, Hooker's Green Hue Permanent, Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue, Light Blue Permanent, Violet, Dioxazine Purple, Raw Umber, Burnt Umber, Raw Sienna, Mars Black and any other colours that call to you.

~ Gold Leaf & Metal Leaf Adhesive Size. Gold leaf comes in a package of sheets, look for the loose leaf sheets rather than attached to a backing to allow for more freedom. You can choose gold, silver or bronze leaf, whatever metallic leaf speaks to you! Gold Leaf Amazon - Adhesive Size Amazon

~ Modeling Paste Gel Medium (Liquitex or other brand) 237ml. Modeling Paste Amazon

~ 4 canvases for portrait practice. Linzy will be demonstrating on three 16x20 inch canvases and one 10x20inch canvas - however any size you choose will work just fine!

~ A large canvas for your final masterpiece (30x30 or 24x30inches recommended)

~ A large canvas for your final masterpiece (30x30 or 24x30inches) ***You will not need this canvas until the beginning of week 6 (August 7th)

~Dream Journal to use for the course and a pen

~Pallet knife and Paint Brushes: a 3inch pallet knife (preferably metal rather than plastic) and soft synthetic paintbrushes in a range of sizes for small details and large under painting. Student grade synthetic brushes are great and inexpensive! You can get these at most Dollar stores and bulk packages at Michales art supplies. I recommend getting soft to touch synthetic brushes over natural hair or bristle. Make sure you have at least one large paintbrush that is 1.5-2 inches wide (filbert style). A teeny tiny brush for intricate details, and 3-4 sizes in between. Pallet Knife set Amazon

~Large size pad/sketchbook of canvas paper for your acrylic portrait skin tone practices & sketches

~Painting Pallet (Linzy’s favourite lifetime use pallet Amazon)

~tracing paper and transfer/graphite paper, ruler

setting sacred creative space

I encourage you to begin setting a sacred creative space to use for this course. The size and location of your space is up to you, it can be in a corner in your bedroom, your kitchen table, anywhere you can dedicate to your creative practice. Location and size is not as important as the sacred intention you infuse into this space. I recommend getting a spacial candle to light while you paint, a comfy cushion to sit on, essential oils or anything you like to use to nourish and invite in all of your senses. You can incorporate sacred objects such as pieces of nature, rocks, crystals, flowers, a plant or anything that is meaningful to you. CONNECT WITH YOUR INTENTION. Why were you called to this course? What is your intention? You can write this down and have it somewhere in your creative space. Words, images, reminders, the possibilities are endless to make this space feel sacred to your creative Heart ~ I encourage you, if possible, to be in this space for our Opening Ceremony and all of our sessions together.

***If this is your first time painting with me: Feel free to watch this video below (part of the Painting From Your Essence course) for more info on setting a sacred creative space for yourself.
